“There are few individuals I’ve worked with in my career that I would describe as hyper-competent – Jen is one of those people. From the first time I met with her during my interview in 2018 through the writing of this recommendation in Sept 2021, Jen has been remarkably consistent in her drive, her desire to get things right, and her care for those around her. When we met, right away I knew it was going to be interesting working with her but wasn’t sure if that would fall on the “this woman is going to be a pain” side of interesting or “this is going to be an eye-opening working relationship that will help me grow professionally” kind of interesting. I was very glad to find it was the latter. For me, the words “Jen” and “fast” have become synonymous. She thinks fast, talks fast, moves fast – she wants to get things done. However, unlike most people that exhibit that kind of drive, she is remarkably self-aware. She knows she is unique, that her way is not the norm, that she is a bit of an outlier. She knows not everyone moves at her speed. She knows not everyone has her level of ability or efficiency. And not only does she not hold that against people, but she also actively works to build them up. She gladly offers her time to help those around her grow and develop. She’s patient with questions, thorough in her responses, and genuinely cares about making those around her better at what they do – if they report to her or not. She wants to empower those around her with the knowledge, tools, and experiences that can help them, that can make them better, and she does her best to make that happen. Jen also does not let her overall high level of proficiency create an ego that gets in the way or business or relationships with those around her. During that first meeting, she flat out said they were looking for someone to come in and tell them what to do recruiting wise as they didn’t know. Frequently, people at her level think they know it all or at least their intelligence and background will inform an opinion that is just as good as that of someone with more specialized experience. As Socrates said, “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing” and such is the case with Jen. When she doesn’t know the answer – she’s the first to say so. But she WILL figure it out. Be it by finding those who do know and listening to what they have to say or diving in head-first herself, if presented with a problem Jen will find a solution. Her tenacity is second to none. She’ll ask good questions, offer insight, and listen – truly listen – to the feedback of others. Jen is a leader, no question. She’s efficient, she’s understanding, she’s helpful, and as I’ve said she’s one of the most capable professionals I’ve ever met. And I’m better at what I do thanks to her. ”

We started working on special projects together in 2012 and I reported to her directly for several years as I grew in the company.
